About Ferrite Coil
The Ferrite coil is used in the tuning circuits making use of medium and long waves. Ferrite coil or alpha iron (represented as α-Fe) is a solid solution and a ferromagnetic material that has iron as its chief constituent. The structure of the solid solution is body-centered cubic-crystal wound in a crisscross manner (honeycomb), imparting magnetic properties to steel and cast iron. The crisscross structure helps in reducing distributed capacitance.
Application
- In analog circuits
- In signal processing.
- In conjunction with capacitors, a ferrite coil emphasizes or filters out specific signal frequencies.
- As large inductors in conjunction with filter capacitors to remove residual (Mains) hums from a DC output.
